When was samurai jack created
He always had to find a way around it. Some of those bounty hunters were definitely alien-like. I remember the episode, but I think they were mostly aliens. The show was always so visually intense and stylized, especially in the way you staged fight scenes, to ramp up the level of the emotions. How did you approach taking the action to new levels when it went to 11 in the first run?
I never thought we got to this emotional level in the first series. If we can really dive into Jack as a person, everything gets heightened. The fun of caricature and stylization is just giving you the essence of something, and then the audience fills in the rest.
You want to create an experience — comical, emotional, horror — that gives the viewer a reaction. So many things are being made. The last thing you want to do is leave no impression. Are there visual references in the show to things you love?
I think that one, we actually did before Mad Max came out. Coyote, one of those old Road Runner cartoons. Once Samurai Jack is all over, what do you want people to walk away from this show feeling? You just want a lasting memory. Subscribe to get the best Verge-approved tech deals of the week.

Before he can complete his task, though, he is catapulted thousands of years into the future. He finds himself in a world where Aku now enjoys complete power over every living thing. Dubbing himself "Jack", he sets out on a new quest - to right the wrongs that have been done by his enemy, and to find a way back to his own time so he can destroy the evil for good.
In the future evil takes many forms, and our only hope is one man from the past. Did you know Edit. The full series hits DVD and Bluray this week, following a one-night-only theatrical release of its feature-length pilot. The show, which ended abruptly with the fourth season finale, has now reached a very satisfying conclusion.
In the process, it has led Tartakovsky to a new outlook on his career that may inform his next steps. Tartakovsky has no regrets about waiting so long.
They wanted more comedy. Adult Swim had no such restrictions. With the new season, he could be clearer about it: If you like samurais, neo-noir and atmospheric storytelling, this show delivers the goods.
So why not go wild? It had meaning to it. But the more jarring development comes much later in the season, when one of the Daughters of the Aku — a nimble trained killer named Ashi Laura Prats — begins to question her allegiances, as she and Jack develop a relationship unlike anything Tartakovsky had attempted before.
