Dragonvale why cant i give gifts

Dragon vale asks for your birthday, so if you delete the app, it will save it for you! I deleted the app about 2 years ago and I have only started playing again in January I think there should be a tier system in place, maybe where you can only gift dragons where the person already has one of the type. Eg; can gift an aurora dragon if your friend already has a rainbow-type dragon.

There is a rolling calendar of events and epic or limited dragons to breed, almost too many, as well as decorations and increasingly expensive islands, but it is a very effective game and keeps you hooked.
