What is the difference between must and should
When a person says it, he means that it is a compulsion for something to happen and cannot be unfulfilled. Both these words are modal verbs and helping verbs which are put into a sentence. They describe the necessity of something, and yet if they are replaced with each other, then the entire meaning of a sentence could actually change.
This is used to state an obligation or a duty of a person in a sentence. What time must we leave? Not later than 2pm. Must he make so much noise? Why must the children do so much homework? What must you wear at work? Who must we call for an appointment? Its structure is the same as any normal verb: Here are some examples of affirmative sentences: I have to email the supplier before he sends the goods.
We have to do the shopping because the cupboards are empty. You have to practice if you want to be fluent. Motorcyclists have to wear a helmet. Here are some examples: What time do you have to start work? Does he have to wear a suit to work? Do I have to bring some form of ID? What do we have to do now? The structure is the same for all subjects: For example: I had to wait a long time for my bus. Did you have to pay a fine when the police stopped you? The doctor told her she had to lose weight.
The film starts in ten minutes. Will they have to sign a register during lessons? Must or Have to? For example: Passengers must keep their bags with them at all times. For example: Employees shall provide a medical certificate for sick leave.
Hotel guests shall pay for any damage to the rooms. You shall wear your ID badge at all times. User assumes all risk of use, damage, or injury. You agree that we have no liability for any damages. For instance: You should chew your food properly. We should respect our parents. You should stop smoking. You must clean our car regularly. In all these statements, there is a probability or recommendation of some kind.
For instance: You must clean the house as your mom is not well. We must obey the law. You must hurry if you have to catch the train. One must keep his word. It is already late, and if you do not start doing your work now, you will not be able to finish your work on time. This will lead to punishment or a penalty.
You must rest. You are not well, and if you continue working, your health is going to get worse.
